2007 Award Recipients
Awarded at the 2007 Annual GCEMS Awards Banquet - May 26, 2007
EMS Provider of the Year:
EMT/B Angie Eppinger
The EMS Provider of the Year is selected by a vote of all GCEMS personnel, excluding the Chief. Angie has proven herself with her dedication to the department, enthusiasm for the job, willingness to learn, and eagerness to advance herself in the field of emergency medicine. Angie is going to be starting paramedic school this fall.
Meritorious Service Award: While taking blood pressures at a PR blood pressure clinic this last year, the EMT felt that something was not right with the patient and performed some further assessment. The patient was referred to their primary care provider and a previously undiagnosed medical condition was found. The patient was also found to be having a myocardial infarction. For her actions, which went above and beyond the call of duty, Glacier County EMS awarded a Meritorious Service Award to:
EMT/B Angie Eppinger
Meritorious Service Award: For her role in improving all aspects of operations at GCEMS Station #2, a Meritorious Service Award is being awarded to:
Captain Sam Meineke, EMT/B
Certificate of Appreciation: For their willingness to answer the call of duty at all hours of the night, even when they are not scheduled for a shift, GCEMS awarded Certificates of Appreciation to:
EMT/B Angie Eppinger
EMT/F Floyd Peterson
Sometimes in the middle of the night we have difficulty finding an EMT who can come in to drive for an inter-facility transfer. We often have to "run the roster" and call off-duty members to see if they are available. Floyd and Angie often answered the call of duty and responded, even if they were off-duty. As a result, no inter-facility transfers had to be passed up in the last year due to lack of personnel, and patients were able to get where they needed to go for treatment in a timely manner.
Certificate of Appreciation: For her years of dedicated service at GCEMS Station #2, a Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to:
EMT/B Carole Taylor
FART Award: The FART award (Fast Assessment & Rapid Transport), is given out to recognize an EMT or First Responder for efficient patient care.
EMT/B Angie Eppinger
The Empty Bed Award: This award honors one of our paid-on-call staff who volunteers for many transfers. Since many of our transfers are at night, this often results in an empty bed, hence the name.
EMT/F Floyd Peterson
EMS Widow of the Year: This is bestowed on the person who most often ended up sleeping alone during the last year due to their spouse answering the call of duty. Often, this is the spouse of the Empty Bed award recipient.
Randy Eppinger
(Husband of EMT/B Angie Eppinger)
Radio Shackle Award: This was bestowed to the person who worked the highest average number of shifts in the last year.
EMT/B Angie Eppinger
K.G. Building Award: This was given to recognize a person's efforts, even if accidental, to support the overhead door repair industry with a few door vs. ambulance incidents in the last year.
CCEMT/P Kyle Starr
EMT/B Angie Eppinger
Numb Bum Award: This award recognizes the person who logged the most miles in an ambulance in one, 24-hour shift. With well over 700 miles, the winner was:
EMT/F Floyd Peterson
Cabelas Award: This was given to one member for their ingenuity in finding a way to hunt the wildlife of Montana from the comfort of an ambulance cab (by accident).
EMT/B Michele Laidlaw
