While Glacier County EMS was not the incident ambulance on the Skyland Fire, we remained on a heightened state of readiness as the fire threatened several communities in our county.  Chief Laidlaw was also active at the county command post as part of the Glacier County Incident Command Team.  The fire started July 23rd, 2007 as a result of a lightening strike and grew rapidly.  At one point during the incident, the Skyland Fire was deemed the nation's #1 priority for wildland firefighting resources due to all the structures and communities in danger.
