Training Open to Public:    We regularly offer CPR, first aid, EMT (emergency medical technician) and first responder classes to interested members of the public.  No previous emergency medical training is required.  We also hope to offer additional training in the future, including bicycle safety seminars and child safety seat instruction/training.

Training for EMS Providers:    Like the medical profession in general, the field of pre-hospital emergency medical care is in a state of constant change and progression.  To ensure that our staff stays cutting-edge on the latest skills and knowledge, our instructors keep up-to-date on the latest in the field of EMS training so that they can pass that knowledge on to our other personnel.  Some of the classes that we may offer to EMS providers include, but may not be limited to:

ACLS

PALS

PEPP

PHTLS

ALS/BLS Refreshers

GEMS

AMLS

In addition to the in-house training programs we offer our staff and other EMS providers, we also try to honor as many out-of-town training requests as possible and send our personnel to training offered throughout the state.

Critical Care Paramedic Program:  Something that our department has embraced is the Critical Care Transport program sponsored by UMBC.  Since a majority of our calls are inter-facility transfers, training in the area of transporting critical patients is highly applicable to us.  We have sent our paramedics as far as Kansas City and Baltimore to complete this program.  All of our paramedics are offered this class, with all expenses being paid, after one year of service.

To request information on upcoming classes, contact our training officer or chief.
